Program Description:

The VAA Fastpitch Program is designed to provide a fun and competitive experience in the only form of softball played in Minnesota High Schools level We have traveling fastpitch program opportunities for girls of all ages (from age 7 – 16+) and new this year an In-House Program for K-2 (ages 5-7).

These teams play approximately 22 league games (11 actual game nights playing two games per night) in the season. The 10U and 12U, teams have a season that extends from late April to the end of June. The 14 and 16U team seasons start after the high school season has ended and go to through the end of July. In addition, all teams will play in 1-3 weekend tournaments throughout the season. Typically, Brown teams (designed for families at the 10U level who want to play at a different commitment level) play less and Gold Teams play more. All teams will participate in the State Qualifier Tournament in late June and some may qualify for the State and Nationals tournaments (typically played in the metro area) in July.

Our teams compete in the Tri-County league and primarily play against communities in the southern metro area (Rosemount, Eagan, Eastview, Farmington, and Lakeville). Dedication is required to play on a traveling team which means that the players are expected to attend all practices and games if at all possible. However, our main objective is to teach and develop softball skills and to most importantly, ensure that the girls enjoy and develop a love of the game.

Have your daughter come and check us out, she will have a BALL!!

We are trying to build up our association's traveling fastpitch presence in the area. You don't have to be a superstar to play fastpitch, just someone who is willing to learn and wants to play at the next level of softball. textIf you would like to get in on the action, please sign up!

Q: What is VAA Fastpitch Softball?

A: This is the version of softball played at the high school level. We offer two types of programs. VAA In-House for K-1st Grade (5-7) (new for 2011) and VAA Traveling Softball. 10U (7-10), 12U (11-12), 14U (13-14) & Above if we have enough girls.

Q & A for the New In-House Program

Q: What is the K-1st grade In-House Program?

A: The VAA In-House program teaches basic softball skills that all girls will need to be successful in fast pitch softball. This is a coach pitched program to teach the girls the basics.

Q: Are there tryouts?

A: No, there are no tryouts for In-House softball - all that is required is a desire to play and have fun!

Q: How many girls are on a team?

A: We try and limit the number of girls on a team to 12 so they all can stay involved. At the kindergarten and 1st grade level we may put as few as 7 on a team to keep them active.

Q: When is the In-House season?

A: The In-House season runs from early May until late June. Typically the first two weeks of the season are just practices and after that the season begins.

A: Absolutely not!! Fastpitch is for girls of all ages. We have two programs eligible for your daughter. New this year we are offering an In-House softball program for K-2nd grade girls (ages 5-7). Also, we have the traveling program (7-10). However, every year we have many 7 year olds decide to start playing at the traveling level right away.

Q: Does the In House program need a uniform?

A: A t-shirt and visor are provided for each girl in the program. These items usually arrive about the time of the first game in mid-May.

A: The registration fee covers the costs of participating in the league games, tournament registration. The only other expenses that you may incur are in purchasing personal equipment (helmet, sliding pad, etc.) that your daughter will need but may not already have plus any additional tournaments your teams decides to enter above the standard for your team.
